Mine a Planet

Mine a Planet Guide — Beginner Walkthrough & Strategy

Complete Mine a Planet guides for the Roblox game — beginner walkthrough, drone fleets, ore tiers, planet evolution, and idle strategy for BETA 10.

Last updated: 2026-08-30

This guide hub answers how Mine a Planet's verified systems work — the drone fleet, ore layers, planet evolution, idle and offline income, and the mutation research index. It deliberately answers less than a wiki looks like it should: every figure here is graded by evidence (official description, in-game footage with a date, or a reported tip), and anything Skydog Games has not shown on screen is written as unknown instead of guessed. That means no invented damage tables, roll rates, or evolution costs. Start with the tier list to see what's actually confirmed, then read down.

Getting Started — Your First Planet

You spawn with a basic drone fleet that mines automatically: drones blast ore off the planet surface and it sells for cash. Redeem every active code first — the free Drone Pack, Time Skip, Strong Batteries and Super Alien Treat are a real head start, and the full live list lives on our codes page. Then spend cash on the three fleet-level upgrade stats named in the official description: Mining Power, Cargo, and Speed. For the exact order to spend in, follow the beginner upgrades walkthrough.

  • Redeem every active code before you spend anything — the current list and each reward are on the codes page
  • Codes are case-sensitive — redeem via the in-game Settings (gear icon)
  • Balance the three fleet-level upgrades: Mining Power, Cargo, Speed
  • A full cargo hold stalls income — don't neglect Cargo
  • Roll for new drones with the free unlimited roll system

Drone Fleet Management

Drones are your only income source and they mine 24/7, even offline. Fleet size is a direct multiplier: every extra drone makes every global upgrade worth more. The Drone Index shows 11 rarity tiers, Common through Transcendent, with 31 of the 51 names confirmed from July 2026 footage — the full graded roster is on our drone tier list — and the official description additionally promises god-tier drones up to 1-in-25-trillion rarity. The only numbers published anywhere are band roll odds plus three fleet-level upgrade names; no per-drone stat line has ever been released. Treat ultra-rare rolling as a collection goal; consistent fleet-level upgrades pay the bills.

  • Mining Power, Cargo and Speed are published as fleet-level upgrades — the game has never published a per-drone stat line for any rarity band
  • Mining Power: the fleet-level upgrade behind how quickly ore blocks get broken
  • Cargo: the fleet-level upgrade behind how much ore gets carried per trip
  • Speed: the fleet-level upgrade behind how fast drones cycle between mining and depositing
  • Drone Packs (e.g. from the DRONES code) expand your fleet directly
  • Strong Batteries from codes interact with drone performance — check their in-game tooltip

Ore Tiers & Planet Layers

Planets are mined layer by layer, and deeper ore sells for more. The official description names two tiers — Azurite at the surface and Aurum in the depths — and says the range goes "beyond" Aurum. No official ore-value table exists, so compare ores by the sell value shown in your own game UI rather than any site's numbers; the ores page lays out the bands we have actually read.

  • Azurite is the starter tier at the surface (official name)
  • Aurum is the deepest named tier (official name)
  • "And beyond" implies further unnamed tiers
  • Ore value rises with depth — exact prices unpublished
  • Planet Evolution unlocks higher-value ore bands

Planet Evolution

Planet Evolution is the game's prestige-style macro system: a cinematic upgrade that transforms your planet into a bigger, richer world with higher-value ore bands. Community footage shows evolution resets depth progress in exchange for the richer world. Evolution costs escalate and are not published anywhere — read the exact requirement from your own game UI. The wiki entry collects what footage proved about the mechanic, and new evolution steps show up on updates.

  • Evolution unlocks rarer ore bands and a bigger world
  • Depth progress resets — your income ceiling rises instead
  • Costs escalate per stage and are unpublished
  • Evolve when income growth at your current depth flattens
  • Track your target with the Evolution Planner (saves locally)

Idle Strategy & Offline Income

Mine a Planet is built for idle play: the official description has the swarm auto-mining 24/7. How offline time settles — full rate, reduced, or capped — has never been stated, so treat a long absence as earning somewhat less than the same time online; that gap is this site's own conservative estimate, not a rate the game has ever shown, and nobody here has measured it. Before logging off, make sure Cargo won't stall your drones mid-cycle, and save Time Skips for after you've stacked fresh upgrades. The community also reports a Pet Aliens system that adds a passive cash boost; how it works is on the wiki.

  • Drones mine automatically 24/7 — even offline
  • How offline time settles has never been published — no figure for it appears on this site, and any expectation about offline yield here is a conservative estimate, not a game rule
  • Time Skips (e.g. from the DISCORD code) fast-forward production
  • Pet Aliens provide a passive boost (reported, values unpublished)
  • Check in to reinvest — idle games reward compounding upgrades

Mutations & the Drone Research Index

Mutations enter your drones through CPU chips: buy one in the Gear Shop, apply it, and the drone carries that mutation until you swap it. Applying one also registers the discovery in the in-game Index → Mutations panel, which a July 17, 2026 recording of the full panel shows reading "Mutations Discovered 6/6 (100%)" — so the game itself currently counts six mutations. Each tile carries a value multiplier: Blizzard 1.35x, Ion 1.75x, Solar Flare 2x, Radioactive 2.25x, UFO 3x and JellyFish 3.25x. Here is the honest limit of that evidence: the panel shows the x-values but never shows what they multiply, and a separate weather banner reads "Drones can mutate - up to 3x value!", which does not reconcile with the 3.25x tile — so we keep both on record and refuse to state which stat the boost lands on. What the index does pay is explicit and worth more than the single terminal bonus older write-ups quote: filling it grants permanent cash milestones of +5% / +10% / +15% / +25% at 25% / 50% / 75% / 100% discovery. Chips are consumables — removing a mutation destroys the chip — so creators advise spending the strong ones only on your best drones, and our tier list is the graded answer to which rarities those are. Beyond shop purchases, footage shows a Solar Flare CPU chip as the Day 5 slot of the Daily Rewards calendar (Aug 26, 2026) and UFO Shards ticking up a 10-slot event collection, though what ten shards redeem for is still unread. Mutation crafting has only ever been previewed in update notes, never shown in-game, so no recipes are listed. For the dated chip prices and the weather map, read the mutations hub; for the hands-on apply-and-remove steps, see how to get mutations. Chip multipliers are a different lever from drone roll luck, which is what the luck calculator actually models.

  • The in-game Index → Mutations panel self-reports 6 mutations (6/6, July 2026 footage)
  • Panel tiles read Blizzard 1.35x up to JellyFish 3.25x, but the multiplied stat is unconfirmed
  • Index milestones pay permanent cash: +5% / +10% / +15% / +25% at 25/50/75/100% — four tiers, not one
  • Removal destroys the chip, so reserve strong chips for high-rarity drones
  • Mutation crafting is previewed only — no recipes shown in footage yet
